Session 7 - Lieutenant Yennan & The Winter Games

You pick up where you left off, after defeating the Skeleton Dragon, the party continue to explore the keep, searching for Alya, who was found in the North-West tower of the keep. Chained and tortured was not in a good state.

Finishing up agreed to business, the party continue to search the keep for Lieutenant Yennan who, after battling several more flaming skulls appears from behind the party, seemingly out of nowhere. Using the mirror image spell to confuse and evade the party. Under estimating the groups strength and cunning, Yennan met his demise.

Having defeated all their foes and conquering the keep the party make their way into the city proper.

The Resistance, in keeping there promise to distract the guards has been victorious beyond their initial expectations. Not only did they manage to keep the guards from the keep. They have successfully defeated all of Yennan's guards. They have either, gave up, fallen in combat, or fleed the city.

Many celebrations over the city where held in honour of the party and the resistance liberating the city. Now the rebuilding process must begin...

- Side Game - The Winter Games 

Falling asleep in one of the cites local inn's the party awaken in a different inn. Finding themselves in a different realm, a dreamlike atmosphere. Participating in the Winter Games and ultimately helping the town with the weird magical anomalies: Giant Gingerbread man, Awakened solstice trees and Eluyeta, who was causing it all.

Upon defeating their foes, the party awaken in their own beds. Unsure if it was real or just all a dream...

Session 6 - Into the Keep

Session 6 - Into the Keep

You pick up where you left off, finishing up your shopping and making your way back to the hideout and take your nights rest in preparation for your attack on the keep in the morning.

Being awoken to the resistance's preparations Derwood fills you in on the plan:

"The plan is simple, we are going to co-ordinate our attack on the city guards with your break into the Keep. We will keep the guards busy and make sure we keep as many guards away from the Keep while you get in, find Alya and take out Yennan.

A word of warning, we may be distracting the guards, but Yennan is a necromancer. I fear that the guards are going to be the easy part. The gods only know what he is keeping in that Keep these days.

Alya, will most likely be in one of the towers. Our intel states that they have started her conditioning so time really is of the essence.

If this works, this could be the start of a mutually beneficial relationship.  - Good luck and may fortune shine on us all this day."

You navigate your way through the sewer system, encountering an assassin and a couple of Mud elementals before making your way into the underground of the keep.

Encountering several zombies while navigating your way through the underground of the keep before finding 3 Flaming Skulls protecting a ritual alter with a black sphere, protected by a pentagram of mystical energy. Turning undead your cleric takes two of the skulls out of the fight for a time to focus one of the Skulls down before taking the other two out one at a time. With the Flaming Skulls now out of the way she begins to systematically destroy each point of the pentagram, ultimately destroying the black sphere.

On the spheres destruction, a few members of the party hear from the Keep above a terrifying roar!

Making your way up into the Keep you come face to face with a skeleton of a gargantuan Skeleton Dragon... Battle followed with the dragons demise with the druid summoning and wild shaping into giant constrictor snakes.

Upon defeating the dragon you look out onto the courtyard to the swarm of now dead corpses...

Session 5 - The Underground Maze

Session 5 - The Underground Maze

After the death of Zanril, the party continue on their way to Merora, leaving his body behind as it would slow them down and time is of the essence.

Arriving outside the city walls, in a slums the party manage to find a small tavern - The Worthless Duduk Inn. Where they meet up with the inn keeper who knew of Zanril and agrees to show them to the entrance of the underground but will go no further.

Before dis-parting, Harry found himself taking a liking to a rather un-attractive, hairy, disfigured female dwarf. How, unfortunately did not return his advances and left the bar to avoid him. 

Arriving at the entrance to the sewer system which would lead into the underground. The party found out the hard way that going left is not always the quickest method to navigate a maze like structure.

Several hours, locked doors, traps and monsters later. The party eventually found the underground lair where the resistance calls home. Meeting with Zanrils contact Derwood the party explain their quest and urgency. Derwood, not knowing the party and hearing the news of Zanrils death reluctantly agrees to help the party by providing a distraction for the guards in the city above while the party storms the keep to save Alya if the party will agree to his one requirement.
While in the Keep, they must eliminate Lieutenant Yennan (like you wouldn't have done that anyway...)

Harry, noticing the ring on Derwood's hand. Recognising the insignia to be that of "The Lords' Alliance" kept this information to himself and did not question it. 

The party agreeing to his terms must wait for the resistance to make the preparations for their distraction. In the mean time, learning of an underground black market where magical items and weapons can be purchased the party ask for a guide to show them to the market place. Silent Kimberley, after killing a few city guards out on the look out for resistance members on the way, navigates the party to the market place where they browse the goods and make some purchases.

Session 4 - Find Plot!

Session 4 - Find Plot!


Defeating the Ice Golem and barely escaping from the explosion of ice the back wall starts to shatter, revealing an underground cavern the party find the need to explore.

Battling various monsters and exploring the underground ice cavern the party come across and defeat:

  • Winter Wolfs
  • Trolls
  • Ice Mephits 
  • and a Zombie Dragon
Loot:
  • Ring of Force Shield
  • Staff of the Woodlands
  • Cursed Backbiter Spear 
  • Pearl of Power (+2)
Returning back to Acton the party find the town suspiciously quiet.
The Tavern is empty, Zanril has been Arrested and Alya has been took by the guards, no one knows where.

Deciding they must help, the party stage a jail break in order to free Zanril and find Alya. Defeating the single prison guard was an easy feat after a dragon and make quick work of breaking Zanril out of the cell.

Zanril, in a state of panic makes haste to the city hall gates and proceeds to bang on the gates demanding entrance and to know where his niece has been taken.

Jumping the wall, Jesus finds himself face-2-face with two guards and rushes to open the gate so that his party members can assist on the take down. 

Proceeding into the town hall, the party work their way through the rooms, systematically taking down the guards and proceed to the Guard Captains chambers where they defeat him and find Alya's prisoner transfer papers. She is being escorted to Talgoy's capital city, Merora by two Mord Sith.

Unable to convince Zanril to wait the night, the party follow him on his quest to follow his niece.
On the way, Zanril, explains: Mord Sith are elite warriors who report only to Lord Morzansson. They take young women, torture them into submission and brain wash them to follow Lord Morzansson and become a sister Mord Sith.

Zanril has contacts in the capital, we need to meet up with the underground resistance fighting against Lieutenant Yennan. His contact and friend Derwood will know how to find Alya and will be able to help.

While on the way, the party, exhausted are forced to rest for the night. However, are set upon by abnormally large wolfs. While, waking and taking care of these wolfs, the party discover that these are no ordinary wolfs. Revealed by Jesus Moonbeam spell, the wolfs revere back to human form while under the light of the spell, shifters. The party make quick work of dealing with the shifters, but not before Zanril is attacked, throat ripped in one fatal swoop and killed. Harry, also suffers a bite by one of the wolfs but was able to shake it off and continue the journey.

Session 3 - Ice Ice Golem

Session 3 - Ice Ice Golem

The town in gratitude decide to throw everyone a party. Making their way to the Thief and Mug Tavern the party sample all the alcoholic delicious the town had to offer into the late of night.
Some returning to the temple to rest, others passing out on a tavern table in their drunken state.

In the morning, those in the tavern are awoken by the arrival of a beaten travellers arrival. The traveller is a merchant named Forbes, who was on his way to make a delivery of beer to the tavern. His caravan has been attacked by local bandits who have stolen his shipment.

Hearing of the beer shortage, the party leap into action to track down the bandits who have stolen the beer.
Tracking them down from location Forbes has told you where he was attacked was easy due to the tracks being left being by the stolen caravan. You eventually catch up with the bandits trying to make their way across a rope bridge with the heavy beer barrels. Quickly defeating the bandits, the party notice an entrance to a cave system where the bandits seemed to be heading. Exploring the bandit's hideout and rest of the cave the party come across several monsters and some rather shiny loot:

Impressed with how well the party have proven to handle dangerous situations Zanril requests the party take up a quest to track down an adventuring party who headed north to the ice caves of Danur. They have not heard from them in many months and fear the worst.

The party, taking up the quest make their way north, following the directions given to them by Zanril. Facing danger after danger as the party travel further north into the arctic terrain the party eventually make their way to the ice caves and find the previous adventuring party dead and in pieces scattered throughout the cave... Even worse, they find the monstrosity that killed them. A Giant Ice Golem.

After a long and nearly fatal battle with the Ice Golem, several near deaths and a party running on their last legs. A killing blow is finally landed on the Ice Golem shattering it into a million pieces. Luckily, no party members where in the vicinity of the blast.

Session 2 - A Familiar Situation

Session 2 - A Familiar Situation 

Escaping from Storm Cave prison, the party make their way to Acton, home town of Alya. Fighting off several guards and wolfs on the way you find your way after a few days travel.

Finding you way to the small northern town, you make your way into the town in the dead of night. Not so subtly stealthing through the town the party draws the attention of one of the patrolling guards. On seeing a guard, adorned in the same uniform as those who held them captive. The barbarian without thinking attacks, killing the guard in one fatal swing. Hiding the body in a barrel in a nearby alleyway. 

The party continue to make their way, following Alya to a nearby tavern (The Thief and Mug Tavern) meeting up with Alya's uncle Zanril. Overwhelmed at to see his niece, Zanril quickly realises that it is not safe for Alya to stay with him as this is the first place the guards will look upon realising her escape. He quickly escorts the party to the nearby temple or Pelor - The Temple of Eternal Light.

The head priest of the temple, Saint Marius the Glorious. The High Sun Keeper of Pelor welcomes the party and Alya into the temple and provides shelter for them. The party spend some time with the priests helping where possible, bathing in their drinking water (BD >.<) and offer to assist in any way they can.

Marius asks the party to assist in a small task, One of his disciples was expecting a delivery of familiars to choose from a local trader Eliat. They sent a messenger "Purfrock" to collect them, but have not heard from him since being sent a few hours ago. "Would you be so kind to follow up and find out what happened to him."

The party make their way to the meetup point and find a rather flustered Purfrock attempting to gather up all the familiars as they have escaped their transport cages and are hiding all over the room.
The party eventually manage to convince / coax the animals back into their cages and escort Purfrock back to the temple with the familiars.

Upon the parties return, they learn of the strange goings on which have befallen the town. People have been going missing every night for the past several days, no one has been able to find out by who and why. The party decide to set up a lookout that night in order to identify what is going on.

On patrol that night another villager is taken, however the party hears the screams and struggle in the distance. Managing to follow the noise it leads them to a crypt in the local graveyard where the party fight several zombies, the gargoyles which have been abducting the villagers and an unknown man channelling a crystal sphere which has been animating the dead.

Stopping the man undone the magic which was keeping the undead animated and seemed to severely weaken the gargoyles which then proved easy work for the party to dispose of. With the threat eliminated the party made their way back to Marius with the crystal and good news.

Session 1 - Storm Cave Prison Cell

Session 1 - Storm Cave Prison Cell

Each of you have been kidnaped from where ever in the world you have been residing and brought to this holding cell.
You awaken to find yourselves in manacles bound to the walls. You can barely move.

All have been stripped of Armor, weapons and all other possessions. You and everyone around you are in prison rags - You do not recognise anyone in the cell with you.

Introducing yourselves:

BG - Human Barbarian

You hear chains rattling from the opposite corner of the room.
  • Female Voice - "They are not coming yet, keep your voice to yourselves"

Worn down female half elf looking worn down and tired. Looks like she has been here awhile.

Description
She has extremely long, wavy, golden hair and brown eyes.
She has rough, sunburned silver skin.
She stands about 5ft 3 and has a muscular build.
She has an oval, very sightly face.
Introducing herself as Alya.

A short time has passed when a noise is heard in the distance. A guard is coming...
His name was Gregory. Not that any of you asked before ripping his throat out and making your escape.

Making your way through the corridor to the guards office, you found two guards sleeping. Making quick work of the other two guards you find your belongings stored in the chests. Making your way through the guards stairwell up to the mess hall you once again find yourself not alone.  
Two undead stationed as night watch detect your presence and attack in an attempt to stop your escape, which proved no match for the party.

Continuing your exploration for an escape route you found:
  • A mysterious door shrouded in a purple mystical energy which repelled Jesus away on his attempt to open it.
  • The Barracks, awaking several sleeping guards before killing them and setting fire to the bed rolls.
  • The kitchen with a dumping sewer which seemed like your best method of escape.    

Jumping down into the sewers, you found yourself amounts what seemed to be the skeletons and rotting corpses of previous prisoners and a swarm of giant rats. Fighting your way through the swarm you eventually find an exit in sight across a dead drop. Eventually finding some wooden planks under the sewer water the party eventually manages to construct a makeshift bridge to cross to the exit.
